ClothingBraies: The underwear of the middle ages. Braies were kind of like giant super baggy boxer shorts that were held up with a belt. The belt was concealed in a roll of fabric at the waiste.
Hose (chausses): You don't want to go out in bare legs, do you? The hose was held up by a chord tied to the belt of the braies.
Undertunic: Kind of like wearing a T-shirt or undershirt under your clothes.
Tunic: What else would you think goes over the undertunic?
Worn with the Maille
Arming cap: A padded hood that protects the head from blunt trauma. It is worn under the maille coif. A second arming cap can be worn between the maille coif and the helmet.
Gambesson or Aketon: A padded tunic to protect the body from blunt trauma is worn under the maille.
Chausses: Maille hose to protect the legs. Like the hose mentioned above, these were tied to the belt of the braies.
Cuirses: Padded shorts to provide additional protection for the thighs.
Surcote: Worn over top of the maille.
Girdle: A belt.
A helm or helmet.
