the Rings
Here is a necklace I have been working on for one of my nieces. Most of the rings in the necklace were wound and cut by me, although a number of craft store rings are included in it as well. The design consists of five lengths of bird cage (Byzantine) chain, made of 1/8" I.D. 20 SWG stainless steel rings, and connected with 10 mm O.D. “gold” craft store rings, with a large dag hanging from the centre length of bird cage. The dag is made up of 1/16" I.D. 28 SWG “gold” craft wire rings woven in a 6 in 1 pattern, and is trimmed with a combination of 4 mm O.D. nickel and “gold” craft store rings, woven in a bird cage pattern, and a number of my own 1/16" I.D. 24 SWG nickel and “gold” rings, also woven as bird cage. The necklace is completed with a 10 mm O.D. nickel ring with a fluted bead. Sorry about the poor quality of
the photo. Hopefully, I will have a better one up soon.
